About Us

Dadamac is built on a collaboration between
John Dada (PhD, MPH, RN, DipHE) and
Pamela McLean (BA, Cert Ed). Their voluntary UK-Nigeria work was the catalyst for setting up Dadamac Limited.

We are a new kind of social business, experienced in cutting across traditional divides. Collaboration is at the heart of all we do. Dadamac’s consultancy is informed by our ongoing community involvement, which updates and refreshes all that we do. We believe passionately that there are no substitutes for genuine local knowledge, and continual learning by doing.

Company founded in 2004,

People

John Dada and Pamela McLean are the Directors and co-founders of Dadamac Limited. John’s background is in community development and health. Pamela’s is in education and training. They are both innovators accustomed to finding creative solutions to real-life challenges.

John directs our work in Nigeria. Pamela directs the rest of Dadamac’s work. (She also works in a voluntary way for Dadamac Foundation, a registered charity where sharing information is as important as raising money.)

Nikki Fishman joined Dadamac in 2008. Her background is in healthcare, consultancy, recruitment and training. She works with Pamela in the UK on specific UK projects and also supports John, Pamela and the rest of the team in many ways.

Dadamac has additional core team members in Nigeria and a wider group elsewhere, often referred to as "the Dadamac community".

The collaborative work between UK and Nigeria relies on the Internet services provided by the dedicated team at Zittnet

Background to Dadamac

Extensive evidence of our work and interests can be found online.

Much of this evidence has been brought together at dadamac.net. Here you can see evidence of our activities, and can dig into details on themes of interest. The fact that we record so much in an open way means there are rich seams of information to be mined.

Here are some starting points

  • Teachers Talking - Our first online community of interest, which involved people (from four continents) collaborating on the preparation and delivery of a training course for rural teachers in Nigeria. (The course was also delivered in Kenya).
  • The peoples-uni.org - We enabled an emeritus professor to start a distance learning initiative for public health.
  • The eco-dome - We enabled an eco-specialist to plan his own project from the UK and to hit the ground running when he arrived in Nigeria to implement it.
  • Cameras for communication - We enabled someone from the UK to do a series of personal projects in Nigeria without leaving the UK. The projects involved the investigation of ideas for small business development, the delivery of related training, plus the design and development of additional course materials in collaboration with local trainers. All of this done through Dadamac’s UK-Nigeria communication systems - not face-to-face.
  • The Dadamac outpost at Ago-Are - this is a long term collaboration which began with the vision of Peter Adetunji Oyawale was later taken up by Folabi Sunday Folarin. (It was the start of Pamela’s connections with Nigeria.)
  • Our regular online meetings: Meeting weekly since 2008 Dadamac UK-Nigeria team meetings, Meeting monthly since 2006.- First Thursday - Meeting Annually since 2005 - Dadamac Day (originally known as Teachers Talking Anniversary Celebration.)
  • Nikki’s blog - which covers the weekly UK-Nigeria team meetings and more.
  • Dadamac Digest - which provides a monthly archive of our interests and activities.

This is by no means a complete list. If you are looking seriously for something else (and the search box fails you) please let us know what you are trying to find and we will do our best to help.
